Or enjoy some sunbathing or beachside reading on a comfortable beach blanket with a drink in hand.

Marine Life

Even in the winter, there are amazing things to see off the waters of Port Aransas and the Gulf of Mexico. Charter a tour and head out in search of dolphins, whales, and other sea life that call our area home (make sure to bring your camera!). Soak in breathtaking views of the Gulf from your seat on the vessel, and enjoy the feel of sea air in your hair. Daytime and sunset tours are available from many companies, and some allow you to bring your own snacks and drinks.

Glowing Kayak Tour

Enjoy a different way to kayak the waters around Port Aransas with a glowing kayak tour. The concept? While many paddle through the water during daytime hours, this adventure starts after the sun sinks into the Gulf. Board a unique clear kayak lit up by special, customizable underwater LED lights, and enjoy dreamy views of the underwater world beneath you as you paddle. Your tour guide will point out landmarks and provide an abundance of knowledge and history about the area on the 1.5-hour nighttime cruise under the stars.

Red Dragon Pirate Cruise

Sail the high seas like the pirates of old! Cruise the waters of the Lydia Ann Channel during the Christmas season and enjoy swashbuckling activities like sword fighting, treasure hunting, and cannon fire! Bring your camera to capture all the memories and pirate mischief. Soft drinks and snacks, as well as beer, wine, pina coladas, rum, tequila, and whiskey-based drinks for the adult pirates in the group, are available for sailors needing to wet their whistles.

Parks

You’ll want to check out the scenic state and local parks in the Port Aransas area during your Christmastime stay. Enjoy picnicking, sand volleyball, basketball, and more. If you are feeling brave, take a dip into the waters of the nearby Gulf, or just play it safe and soak in the sun from the beach.

Fishing

Just steps from The Dunes is Horace Caldwell Fishing Pier. The pier is open 24 hours a day, year-round. Cast a line in search of tarpon, red or black drum, catfish, spotted sea trout, and even sharks! Visit Fisherman’s Wharf and charter a fishing excursion to take you out to sea, or on an inland fishing adventure.

Jet Skis

Rent a jet ski and slice through the waters of the Gulf at top speed this Christmas. There are several companies that rent jet skis for some fast-paced water excitement, all you need to do is contact your company of choice and ask about rates as well as age restrictions for passengers and drivers.
