You came to Port A for Texas warmth, fun, and the sand and water at the beach along the Gulf of Mexico. Get to know the sea life that call the area home, as well as many other aquatic – and even some non-aquatic friends visiting from waters throughout the world with a visit to the Texas State Aquarium. The aquarium is open daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located at 2710 N. Shoreline Blvd in Corpus Christi. Call 1-800-477-GULF (4853) or book tickets online. The H-E-B splash park is open seasonally.
Residents
Some of their residents have wings! Like the white or scarlet ibis, blue-winged teal, scarlet or green-winged macaw, and others. Swimming in the tanks you find goliath grouper, lionfish, tarpon, bottlenose dolphins, sergeant majors, sea turtles, sharks, and more. Marvel at the giant pacific octopus, blubber jellyfish, or Atlantic stingray.
Aquaventure
Take a self-guided tour of the aquarium in search of answers to questions like, “How long does it take a shark to swim across the Caribbean Sea?” and others. The scavenger hunt experience features a questionnaire you fill out as you go. You can explore on your own, or with a group of up to ten people.
Encounters
Take a special VIP look at the aquarium. Snorkel with the sharks and other aquatic species of the Caribbean. Follow in the footsteps of the aquarium’s animal care staff and feed the fish. Each encounter has its own pricing and guidelines for group size and age of participants, so make sure you and your loved ones can all participate.
Whataburger 4-Dimension Theater
Add an extra dimension to the viewing experience with unique special effects that immerse you in the environment on the screen. Current offerings include the BBC’s Earth Shark: A 4D Experience, and RIO: The 4-D Experience, each playing throughout the day every 30 minutes. The shows are included in the price of admission, so make sure you check them out. Seating is limited and groups are asked to social distance from one another. Seats and 4D glasses are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between shows.
