You arranged for a short break. For ultimate rest and rejuvenation in that short time, choose an island locale with plenty to do and see and pack your schedule, or enjoy the relaxing island atmosphere where you can take it slow and savor every moment. Get started on your 3 day journey to Port Aransas!

Marine Life Tours

Three days may not be enough to do everything on your list, but you’ll definitely have time to get out and tour the waters of Port Aransas and the Gulf of Mexico. Choose a charter tour that takes you out in search of dolphins, whales, and other sea life. Make sure to bring your camera to catch glimpses of the majestic animals, as well as the breathtaking views of the Gulf and surrounding Port Aransas landmarks. Daytime and sunset tours are available from many companies, and some allow you to bring your own snacks and drinks.

Glowing Kayak Tour

Most people launch kayaks for a peaceful morning paddle on the water before the world wakes to start making waves. If you’re not an early riser, consider taking that peaceful paddle in the evening and nighttime hours. Take a guided kayak tour in special clear kayaks decked out in water safe LED lights! The lights come in several colors, and you can choose your own colors and sequences. With the clear vessel, you’ll not only see the lights dancing, but you’ll also be able to view the sea life swimming beneath your boat. Tours are 1.5-hours.

Red Dragon Pirate Cruise

Cruise the waters like the pirates of old! The whole family will have a swashbuckling good time when you sail the high seas! Cruise the waters of the Lydia Ann Channel and take part in dolphin watching, sword fighting, treasure hunting, cannon fire, and lots more pirate excitement! Bring your camera to capture all the memories and pirate fun. If pirate fun isn’t enough to have you boarding the ship, you’ll enjoy soft drinks and snacks, and pirates over 21 can sip on beer, wine, pina coladas, rum, tequila, and whiskey-based drinks.

Lydia Ann Lighthouse

Fit in a little history and education. The Lydia Ann Lighthouse was built in 1857. Also called the Aransas Pass Light Station, the lighthouse is not accessible by any road. You’ll need to take a cruise past it in your own vessel or on a sightseeing tour or get a good view of it from nearby Roberts Point Park.

Chapel on the Dunes

The historic 1930s church was built by the Carter family, the family of former Texas poet laureate Aline Carter. The church no longer holds services, but locals and visitors can tour the church building and grounds during tours organized by the Port Aransas Museum. If you’ve chosen Port Aransas for your destination wedding, the church offers event services.

Surf Camp

Learning something new isn’t limited to the historic landmarks of the area. There are several companies in Port Aransas and the surrounding area that will teach you to ride the waves of the Gulf. Professional instructors offer private or group lessons that will have you surfing the waves in no time. Learn traditional surfing or windsurfing – or why not both?

Beaches

Of course, the beach is going to be a focal point of your three-day island vacation. Keep up on your exercise routine with a refreshing run or walk on the beach. Slip into your bathing suit and pack up your gear to head out for a day on the sand or playing in the water. Spread out your blanket, plant your beach umbrella, and lounge on the sand with a book, or step out into the sun for sunbathing. Swim in the waves of the Gulf, or help the kids build sand castles before taking a sunset walk on the beach.

Fishing

If you’re an angler, you won’t be satisfied without casting a line during your short trip. Check out the bays and shallow waters, piers, jetties, and other areas to see what’s biting in the Fishing Capital of Texas. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush with your catch of the day, head out on a deep sea trip in search of kingfish, marlin, tuna, and others who lurk in deep waters.
