You came to Port Aransas for Texas warmth, fun, and the sand and water at the beach along the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is a top priority any time of year. Long walks, swimming in the waves, or trying a new activity like paddleboarding or snorkeling are all things you can do to while away the time at the beach. Pack up your coolers and other beach gear, slip into your swimsuit, and head to Port Aransas beach for a day of fun in the sun.
Enjoy a day at the beach full of water activities and fun. Swim in the waves, snorkel for an up-close view of undersea life, or try an activity like paddleboarding or kayaking. There are plenty of fun ways to get out in the water and enjoy the day. There are lifeguards watching over you between Marker D and Marker 9 daily from Memorial Day-Labor Day, and Thursday-Sunday between Labor Day and Halloween.
If you’d rather spend your time on the sand, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Spread out your beach blanket, plant your umbrella, and read a good book, or lay out in the sun and work on your tan. After some time in the water, the kids can dry off and build sandcastles. Bring a Frisbee or other beach toys and pass the time playing on the sand.
A highlight of summer at the beach for many is a beach bonfire. Small, 3’x3’ fires are allowed on the beach at any time. Celebrate a summer evening with s’mores or hot dogs cooked over the flames, or just enjoy each other’s company. Please extinguish your fire with water before leaving the area.
Fourth Friday Beach Walk
The Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a Beach Walk on the fourth Friday of each month. Join them, along with other locals and visitors, and explore the beach to collect shells, and observe the sea critters that call the sand and water of Port Aransas vacation home. Walks begin at 9 a.m. at the Horace Caldwell Pier and end at Beach Street.
