Even if you are vacationing during the colder season and won’t be dipping your toes into the chilly waters of the Gulf, a day at the beach can be a fun-filled adventure that everyone will enjoy. Families with younger children may spend the day burrowing in the sand, creating sandcastles with nothing more than sand and water, while families of tweens may discover the peculiar joys of being buried in all that sand. We can’t tell you how many times our own kids begged to be covered in sand, especially when we sculpted that sand into shapes that included cars, submarines, and a variety of other fun shapes. Your teens may decide that a game of frisbee or volleyball may be what they want to do. Holiday Adventures in Port Aransas
As you read this, you may be starting to pack for your holiday visit to Port A, and we are so excited to show you all the fun you and your family can have during the Christmas season. Perhaps the most whimsical family-friendly activity will be a visit to our Sand Santa at Robert’s Point Park. Sculpted from sand and water and sharing the stage with boats, surfboards, and sea turtles, every year he strikes a different pose, adding fun and fancy to your family Christmas photos.
The real-life version of Santa has been spotted in kayaks in the water, at local stores, and in our Santa in the Park event that generally occurs on the first weekend of December. Also offering our community Christmas tree lighting, a chance to meet the Grinch, and an ugly Christmas sweater contest, this event is one of our faves!

No matter when you choose to visit our Texas town, there is one activity that is always guaranteed to be a hit with all members of your traveling group, no matter what their age: a cruise to see the dolphins. Road Trip to Corpus Christi
Now, don’t get us wrong, there are still plenty of family friendly adventures you can enjoy in Port Aransas, including a cruise on the Red Dragon Pirate Ship, but there is something that Corpus Christi offers that Port A doesn’t. The USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier Museum, located at 2914 N Shoreline Boulevard, offers a chance to experience living history as you explore all that awaits on this decommissioned World War II area aircraft carrier.
Even though children generally avoid museums like the plague, yours won’t be able to help falling in love with this museum’s charms, especially as it offers flight simulators, escape rooms, and on December 20th in 2025, a chance to share breakfast with Santa! While not exactly a military type adventure, we can promise there will be no complaints as the kiddos dine on pancakes, meet the jolly old elf, watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas in 3D, and fill up on sugary treats that you know will make them run crazy.
