First Fridays at the Art Center, April 4, 104 N Alister Street
The most beautiful towns often harbor the most talented artists, and if you don’t believe us, add First Fridays at the Art Center to your vacation itinerary. Offering live music and refreshments to every guest, it is the masterpieces of art that will capture your heart, encouraging visitors to purchase a unique souvenir that will live in a place of honor in your home, reminding you of the adventures you experienced during your Port Aransas April vacation! Also offering art classes and paint & sip experiences, if you aren’t here on the first Friday of April, it’s ok, these other activities will be equally exciting.
Port Aransas Spring Farmers Market, April 6, Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion
Port Aransas has always done things a little differently than other places. Our beach vacations are affordable, we don’t believe in gouging tourists, we offer beaches you can drive on, and our Farmers Market, instead of being held every week, occurs just twice a year, and when it is time for the next one, like the Spring Farmers Market coming on April 6, it will be a mega market! Offering meats, vegetables, and fruits that are actually in season not something that was forced to grow in a greenhouse, adding an extra layer of healthy benefits for consumers, the baked goods will be baked from scratch, probably within a day or two of appearing on the vendor tables. Coffee is small batch, seafood will be harvested locally, and gifts will be handmade, artwork will be painted by local artists, and the music that accompanies the whole shebang, performed by Tyler Jordan, will enhance the experience, perhaps encouraging you to sing along as you shop.
Tea with Me at Tortugas, April 12, Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill
Although we are thousands of miles away from England in both miles and vibe, the Tea with Me event held at Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill is an extremely popular one. The dress code is Sunday best and if you have been wondering what to do with all those leftover Princess costumes from Halloween or Disneyland, wonder no more; your little princess deserves to look the part, and she is encouraged to wear it to tea! Offering sweet treats, traditional tea sandwiches, and a variety of teas, this event may not be typical Texas, but we promise your kids will love this almost as much as they love their time at the beach!
Texas Sandfest, April 25 Through April 27, Port Aransas Beach
Did we save the best for last or are we just going in chronological order? That will be for you to decide when your vacation coincides with the largest beach sand sculpture contest in the nation, Texas Sandfest. The best sand sculptors in the world flock to our sandy beaches, creating sand sculptures right before your eyes and as you meander through the festival, examining each creation while the sun shines down on your shoulders and the sea waters crash against the shores, we think you will decide there is no place else you would rather be! Also offering lessons in the art of sand sculpting, demonstrations in creating the sculptures, an amateur contest, live music and food vendors, your day at the beach will take on new elements of wonder. The kids’ activity tent will ensure that your 3-12 year olds are kept busy and entertained, and the golf cart raffle could mean that you have to figure out how to pack a golf cart in your carry-on, should you win the raffle.
