Surfing Lessons With Texas Surf Camps, 230 N On the Beach

Thrilling, exciting, and sometimes a little scary (But aren’t all the best things in life?), surfing in Port Aransas is a popular activity all through the spring, summer, and into the fall, and because Texas Surf Camps is a very popular surf school, booking now will be a wise decision. In just a few short hours you too will be hanging ten, understanding the vibe of the community and the pull of the sport, and if your muscles feel a little sore at the end of your adventures, a few minutes soaking in our community hot tub at The Dunes will have you feeling fine in no time at all.

Light up the Night with A Lakehouse Lakes Glow Row Tour

Kayaking is always going to be a fun adventure, but during the daylight hours it may get awfully hot out on those waters, and even though you can always take a mid-paddle dip in the salty waters of the Gulf to cool off, night will always be cooler—especially when you book a lighted kayak tour with Glow Rows, based out of Aransas Pass but offering service to many different parts of Texas, including Port Aransas. Starting with a transparent kayak lit up with underwater LED lights that glow in seven different colors and adding in paddles with the business end also lit with LED lights, dark skies will contrast with clear waters and the lights will help you get a peek into the world under the sea! Reasonably priced and very popular, it is important that you book your tour ahead of time or you might miss out on this fantastic kayaking experience when the tour you want sells out.

Aw Shucks, It’s the Scarlett Lady Sip & Shuck Oyster Farm Tour

The Scarlett Lady is a lady that really gets around—of course, she is a tour boat, so that is to be expected—and her Sip & Shuck Oyster Farm Tour is the only of its kind in the area. Taking visitors to Texas Clear Water Gardens where all will be greeted with a glass of prosecco before beginning their behind the scenes tour of the oyster farm learning all its secrets. After the educational part has concluded, guests will be able to sample the magic, enjoying freshly shucked oysters perfectly paired with a glass of wine. This event takes place on the first Sunday of the month from June through November and seats are limited, so be sure to book your tour today!

Don’t Be a What at the Texas Woman Anglers Tournament, August 22-24

Fishing has long been considered a man’s hobby, but the Texas Woman Anglers Tournament has been changing that perception since its inception in the 1980s. This woman-only tournament is bound to be a fun one, inviting participants to pick a theme and dress in costume (remember, this is a women’s only tournament), and the tournament entry fee, although a little steep at $1500, may be your entry fee to a big cash prize if you win. If not, you can still feel good about the money you spent, because proceeds go to the Purple Door, a non-profit organization that helps women who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In any case, you get to spend a few days on a boat (there are plenty of places to rent boats in the area), fishing and savoring the waning days of summer, so what are you waiting for? Register today!

Relaxing at Home with The Dunes

Our air conditioned retreats offer balcony views of the Gulf, access to community amenities that include a pool and hot tub, and all the comforts of home and if you book now for your late summer arrival, you can be assured that your favorite space will still be available. Reserve your favorite Texas sanctuary with The Dunes today (summer will be over before you know it) and prepare for a vacation filled with comfort, luxury, restful sleep, plenty of relaxing time, and all the serenity of the sea!

Port Aransas Beach

It is definitely a given that you will want to spend some of your time, if not most of your time, on Port Aransas Beach, and we hesitated to add it to the list for that reason. But digging your toes in the white sands, walking along the shore’s edge, feeling the warm waters of the Gulf curl around your ankles, when the heat of the day gets a little too much, diving into the salty waters is such a primal experience, how could we not write about it?

Maybe you will spend your beach day lounging on chairs that are anchored in the sun, letting a colorful umbrella provide a little protection from the sun’s rays as you flip through magazines, read that new Susan Mallery book, or simply close your eyes and let the sounds of surf, seabirds, and chattering children provide a lullaby that eases you into a thoroughly relaxed state.

Or maybe you know you aren’t the type to do nothing, and you decide to rent jet skis, try your hand at parasailing, or walk along the edge of the water for a couple of miles, Port Aransas Beach extends out about 6 miles. It doesn’t matter how you fill the minutes of your beach day, just that you are there and enjoying every single second.

Red Dragon Pirate Cruises, 440 W Cotter Avenue

Fun for the whole family, the Red Dragon Pirate Cruises offers 2-hour cruises aboard a replica Spanish Galleon for the kiddos, featuring cannon fire, sword fights, and the hunt for pirate treasure. An on-board snack bar sells snacks, soft drinks, and rum drinks (because what kind of pirate ship would it be if it didn’t offer rum?), ensuring that while your child is lost in the magic of the activity, you too will enjoy some magic of your own. If you aren’t traveling with children, however, you won’t have to skip the fun of traveling aboard a pirate ship, as Red Dragon offers 2-hour sunset cruises every evening of the week, and on Thursdays, the regular price is cut from $40 per person to $25 per person! Offering music, beverages, and prime views of the Texas sunset, this cruise is often our guests’ favorite thing to do at any time of the year!

Fire It! Ceramics, 611 S Allister Street

We are about to share a secret with our guests that may change the way you souvenir shop from here on out. The best souvenirs are often the ones you make yourself, and on a day that is a little too warm or quite possibly a little too wet (rain does fall occasionally!), you may find yourself making your own souvenirs at Fire it! Ceramics.

This walk-in studio offers shelves filled with plain white unglazed pottery pieces of all shapes and sizes, and you get to choose the one that calls to you the loudest, choose the colors you want your piece to be, and start painting.

Maybe you will adorn a plate with the words Labor Day 2025 in Port Aransas or maybe you will simply use all the colors of the rainbow to make your coffee mug fit your personality; there are no rules as to how you should color in all that white space, save just one.

Have fun while doing it! After you have finished painting, you give your piece to the staff and they will fire it for you and have it ready for pick-up in 1-3 days. If you are going to be home before the piece is ready, they will ship it for you, so no worries there!

Hanging Out at Home with the Dunes

We’ve got you running all over our town, but sometimes your favorite adventures will be the ones you enjoy at home in your Dunes holiday hideaway. Watching the sun set from your balcony overlooking the Gulf, hanging out poolside with a tropical drink in your Stanley, or staying up late with the family playing board games, knowing you can sleep in late in the morning. All these wonderful moments will be brought to you courtesy of the Dunes; reserve your favorite retreat today!

This guide to five unexpected things to do in Port Aransas will give you even more to look forward to as you are crossing off the days you have left until your trip.

Say “I Do” in a Historic Chapel

There are many beautiful places in the world to get married, but the Chapel on the Dunes, located at 203 S 11th Street, offers a fantasy wedding experience come true. This small chapel perched high on the dunes of Port Aransas isn’t one that will handle big weddings, but a destination wedding is rarely large and ostentatious. Instead, your wedding attended by only the people who mean the world to you will offer a charm and style that feels real and forever. And as you walk up the sandy path to the little white structure, surrounded by sea oats and the sound of waves crashing against the beach, you will know that there is nowhere else you want to start your new life. Inside, hand-painted murals add happy to an occasion that should never be solemn, and we haven’t done serious studies on the matter, but we believe that more marriages that begin at the Chapel on the Dunes last for the long haul.

Take a Road Trip to Naval History in Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi is located just about 40 miles away from Port Aransas, offering even more unexpected adventures, including the opportunity to explore a WWII aircraft carrier. The USS Lexington Museum, 2914 N Shoreline Boulevard, is a genuine aircraft carrier turned museum, offering a peek into what our sailors might have experienced during the wars. Specifically built for WWII in 1942, this beautiful warrior served longer than any other Essex class ship, protecting our country for almost 50 years before being decommissioned in 1991. Today, visitors can experience special events that include holiday celebrations, paranormal investigations, and overnight camping adventures, as well as offering 20 aircraft, a flight simulator, escape rooms, and a cool Pearl Harbor exhibit that is both powerful and moving. Ticket prices range between $14.95 and $20.95, with military members receiving a significant discount.

You Won’t Need a Bigger Boat

If you are wondering what one of the most famous lines in movie history (“We’re going to need a bigger boat.”) has to do with unexpected activities in Port Aransas, well, we’re taking you on a shark fishing expedition next! You may have expected a fishing trip or three during your adventures in Port A, but we can pretty much guess that you never expected to have Jaws on the other end of your line. There are multiple charter companies that take anglers out to where the sharks like to swim, including Reel Thrillz Coastal Adventures and Just Doin’ It Shark Charters, taking fisher people to where the big fish are biting the most. Summer visitors will have the chance to catch bull sharks, black tip sharks, tiger sharks, and mako sharks, the latter of which are in season all year round.

Speaking of Boats, You can Learn to Build One!

As you might expect, we have a strong maritime history here in Port Aransas, and Farley Boat Works, located at 716 W Avenue C, has been a respected boat builder in the area since 1915, building boats the traditional way, no assembly lines in sight. Today, they still build boats and often offer classes that allow visitors the chance to build their own boats, and even if you never end up building one, we can promise you will come away with a better appreciation for the work that has been done over the centuries!

Why Choose a Vacation Rental for Your Summer Getaway?

When it comes to planning your summer vacation, the accommodation you choose plays a pivotal role in shaping the entire experience. Vacation rentals offer several advantages over traditional hotel stays, and with The Dunes, you’ll have access to homes that are specifically designed with comfort and relaxation in mind.

More Space and Privacy

Unlike hotels, where rooms are often small and cramped, vacation rentals offer spacious living areas, multiple bedrooms, and even outdoor spaces where you and your family can gather together. Whether you’re staying for a weekend or an entire week, the extra space allows everyone to spread out, relax, and enjoy their time away without feeling confined.

For families, having separate bedrooms and bathrooms means everyone can have their own private space, making it easier to unwind at the end of a busy day. And when you’re not resting, you can take advantage of large living rooms and fully equipped kitchens that make spending time together even more enjoyable.

A Home Away from Home

One of the biggest draws of vacation rentals is that they make you feel at home, even when you’re miles away. With The Dunes, our properties are thoughtfully designed to create a warm, inviting environment where you can truly relax. From cozy living rooms with plush furniture to fully stocked kitchens that make meal preparation a breeze, every detail is crafted to make you feel comfortable and at ease.

Vacation rentals also offer home-like amenities, such as washers and dryers, which allow you to pack lighter and avoid unnecessary trips to the laundromat. Whether you’re staying for a few nights or a few weeks, the convenience of these amenities makes a big difference in ensuring a stress-free vacation.

Fully Equipped Kitchens

One of the key benefits of booking a vacation rental is the ability to prepare your own meals. Not only does this give you more control over your food options, but it can also save you money. You can start the day with a homemade breakfast, pack a picnic for your adventures, or enjoy dinner together without worrying about reservations or crowded restaurants.

At The Dunes, we understand that mealtime is an important part of vacation, which is why our homes come with fully equipped kitchens complete with modern appliances, cookware, and all the essentials. Whether you prefer to cook your own meals or just want a fridge to store snacks and drinks, our Port Aransas summer rentals provide everything you need to make dining on your vacation as easy and enjoyable as possible.

From scenic trails to nature reserves, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the natural world. And when you return to your vacation rental after a day of adventure, you’ll appreciate having a comfortable, private space to relax and recharge.

Benefits of a Last-Minute Port Aransas Vacation

Before we get into the specifics of planning, it’s helpful to understand why booking a last-minute vacation is an excellent option. Many people think that a spontaneous trip is stressful or that they’ll miss out on the best deals, but last-minute travel offers several benefits:

With all these benefits in mind, let’s explore how to make the most of your last-minute vacation.

Choosing the Right Rental for Your Last-Minute Vacation

When booking a last-minute trip, finding the right vacation rental is essential to ensure your getaway is both enjoyable and comfortable. Fortunately, booking with The Dunes gives you access to a variety of vacation rentals that are perfect for spontaneous trips. Here are some important considerations when selecting the right rental property:

Location, Location, Location

One of the main advantages of booking a rental property is that you have more control over where you stay. Whether you’re looking for something right by the beach, close to local restaurants, or nestled in a quiet area, The Dunes offers various properties that cater to different tastes and preferences.

When planning a last-minute Port Aransas vacation, choose a rental that’s in a location where you can easily access activities you want to do. Opt for a property that’s close to the beach if you’re planning a seaside retreat or near the town center for easy access to shopping and dining.

Size and Amenities

Consider the size of the rental you’ll need based on your travel group. If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, a smaller, more intimate space might work best. For families or groups of friends, you may want a property with multiple bedrooms and spacious common areas.

At The Dunes, we offer both cozy and larger properties, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. Additionally, think about the amenities that will make your stay more enjoyable. Many of our rentals come with full kitchens, private outdoor spaces, pools, and laundry facilities to enhance your comfort.

Read Reviews

While you may not have the luxury of weeks of research when booking last-minute, it’s still important to check reviews of the property. Look for feedback from previous guests about the cleanliness, amenities, and overall experience. Positive reviews can give you peace of mind and help you avoid booking a property that may not live up to your expectations.

Availability

As you’re booking at the last minute, it’s crucial to check availability quickly. The Dunes offers a user-friendly website where you can easily view available properties and secure your booking with just a few clicks. Since last-minute availability can be limited, it’s best to make a reservation as soon as you find a property you like.

Make the Most of Last-Minute Deals

One of the best perks of booking a last-minute vacation is the chance to find discounted prices on rentals, flights, and activities. Many vacation rental owners, including us at The Dunes, offer lower rates for last-minute bookings to fill their calendars, especially if there are still unbooked days close to the date.

Check for Deals

Many vacation rental agencies offer special promotions for last-minute stays. Be sure to look for discounts on properties that you’re considering. At The Dunes, we’re always offering competitive rates, and our last-minute deals provide great opportunities to enjoy a beautiful getaway without breaking the bank.

Flexible Dates

If your travel dates are flexible, you might find an even better deal by shifting your stay by a few days. Adjusting your dates slightly can open up more availability and give you access to better prices. Sometimes, vacation properties drop rates when they are nearing their travel dates, especially if they have open nights that need to be filled.

Bundle Your Vacation

If you’re booking other elements of your trip, like activities or dining experiences, consider bundling them with your rental. Some vacation rental providers and local businesses offer discounts when you book multiple services together. At The Dunes, we make it easy for you to plan your entire vacation by connecting you with trusted local vendors and activity providers, so you don’t have to waste time organizing multiple bookings.

Quick and Efficient Booking Process

When planning a last-minute vacation, the booking process must be as streamlined and efficient as possible. The faster you can finalize your accommodation, the more time you’ll have to relax and enjoy your trip. Here’s how to ensure a smooth and easy booking process:

How to Pack Efficiently for a Last-Minute Getaway

Packing for a last-minute vacation may feel like a scramble, but with some smart planning, you can make sure you have everything you need without overpacking. Here’s how to pack efficiently for your trip:

Stick to Essentials

Focus on the basics when packing. Depending on your destination, this might include sunscreen, beachwear, light clothing, and toiletries. Since you’re going on a spontaneous trip, avoid packing too many outfits or accessories. Keep your packing list simple and prioritize items you’ll need right away.

Pack Versatile Clothing

Choose clothing items that can easily be mixed and matched. Go for versatile pieces that can be layered depending on the weather. Think lightweight, breathable clothing for the daytime, and a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. Don’t forget your swimsuit if you’re planning to hit the beach!

Check the Weather

One of the easiest ways to avoid overpacking is to check the weather forecast for the area where you’ll be staying. This helps you avoid packing unnecessary items like heavy jackets or thick sweaters if the weather is warm. At The Dunes, many of our properties are located in areas with mild weather, so you can pack light and still be comfortable.

Don’t Forget Essentials

While you might not have a lot of time to pack, don’t forget your charger, personal items, medications, and other essentials that you’ll need during your trip. These items should be easy to pack, so make sure they’re at the top of your list.

Maximize Your Time at the Destination

Once you’ve booked your rental and packed your bags, the next step is to maximize your time at your destination. Since you’re going on a last-minute vacation, you likely want to make the most of every moment you have to explore, relax, and enjoy yourself. Here are a few tips for making the most of your time:

Enjoy Local Events and Activities

One of the best aspects of booking a last-minute vacation is the ability to take advantage of local events and activities happening during your stay. Whether it’s a seasonal festival, outdoor concert, or special event at a nearby park, there’s always something going on. By staying at The Dunes, you’ll be in the heart of it all, with easy access to local happenings. Don’t forget to check out local event calendars or ask our team for recommendations to ensure you make the most of your spontaneous trip!

White Sand Beaches Await

To be perfectly frank, for most people the beach is the only place they want to play during the kickoff to summer, and we understand completely. We live here and most days all we want to do is go to the beach, relax, swim, and just forget the real world exists, so of course, it is the main attraction!

The Port Aransas beaches are amongst the most beautiful in the world, offering pristine beauty and a serene vibe, and many of our vacation rentals will provide beach basics, so you won’t have to lug beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas across the country, nor will you have to buy any of the same.

Spend every day all day chilling at water’s edge, sipping your favorite tropical beverages, and working on your tan so you can return home with a golden glow, leaving all your friends and family green with envy. Oh, and don’t forget that bonfires are allowed on our beaches, adding romance to your nighttime shenanigans.

Searching for Shells on San Jose Island

Your favorite souvenirs may be that handful of shells you found while walking along our Port A beaches, but the best shells may be found on the uninhabited island, San Jose Island, accessible by ferry and offering adventures you may not be used to in your urban centered real life.

Birdwatchers love this wild section of land and anglers wish they never had to leave, and the shells that you find will be plentiful, colorful, and serve as unique souvenirs that remind you of all the good times you had during your Memorial Day Texas vacation.

Road Trip to Corpus Christi

The town of Corpus Christi lies just 30+ miles away from Port Aransas, and we can’t think of a better way to honor Memorial Day than with a visit to the USS Lexington Museum, located at 2914 N Shoreline Boulevard, and offering the opportunity to explore a genuine World War II aircraft carrier. Yes, the ship itself is the museum, and as you step aboard, you may hear the echoes of naval men shouting orders, of airplanes taking off and landing, and the sound of chow halls at lunch, but only if you listen closely, because those days are long gone.

Today, visitors can walk the decks, explore the rooms that were once a hub of activity, and marvel at the different lifestyle that was experienced by sailors at sea and at war. Offering a mega theater that airs movies about the ship’s not so distant past, self-guided and tour guide led tours, and a Pearl Harbor exhibit that never fails to move those who view it, a day trip to the USS Lexington really can be the best way to honor those who served and experienced the ultimate sacrifice.

Memorial Day Getaway to Port Aransas - Food

Time to Eat

The food we eat on vacation often makes its way into our stories, and when it’s time to eat, your culinary adventures in Port A are sure to be memorable ones. Enjoy a casual seafood dinner and views of the Gulf at Grumbles Seafood Co, located at 850 Tarpon Street. The fish you are eating may have just been swimming in the waters behind this wonderful restaurant and you can’t get much fresher than that. (Fresh does make a difference!)

Island Café, 301 S Alister Street, is closed on Tuesdays, but is open for breakfast and lunch every other day, and although it isn’t a beachfront eatery, you will feel as if you are dining under the sea as you devour giant plates of biscuits and gravy thanks to the murals of fish, seahorses, and the aquarium with mermaids sitting on its edge found at the front door.

Plan to Pack Light

One of our favorite parts of summer travel is how light our bags will be; summer clothes are just lighter and take up less space in our suitcases. A summer beach vacation requires even less to pack, especially as our vacation escapes sit right on the beach and you will find yourself reluctant to leave the sand for long stretches of time. Pack a few swimsuits, some shorts and tees, and flipflops. No one should be wearing shoes and socks at the beach, even when exploring the town that the beaches frame and if you feel you must have at least one pair of going out shoes, let us remind you that Port A is a laidback and casual place and those bejeweled flip flops work just perfectly as fancy shoes!

Summer Vacation to Port Aransas - Beach at night

Plan on Beach Days and Nights

We’re not even going to try and pretend that the beach isn’t your main reason for visiting our barrier island town. White sands so pristine and bright you will need to wear sunglasses against the glare, blue waters that are warm and inviting, encouraging wading, swimming, snorkeling and so much more. Surfing is popular in this part of the world, and although our waves may not reach Hawaii or Florida levels, your Port Aransas vacation really would be the perfect time to pick up the sport, with Texas Surf Camps, providing the education you need to hang 10. And even as you know you will spend much of your day playing in our giant sandbox, don’t be surprised when the sea calls you back after the sun has set, adding a romantic moonlit stroll to the long list of vacation activities you can plan on enjoying during your summer vacation to Port Aransas!

First Fridays at the Art Center, April 4, 104 N Alister Street

The most beautiful towns often harbor the most talented artists, and if you don’t believe us, add First Fridays at the Art Center to your vacation itinerary.

Offering live music and refreshments to every guest, it is the masterpieces of art that will capture your heart, encouraging visitors to purchase a unique souvenir that will live in a place of honor in your home, reminding you of the adventures you experienced during your Port Aransas April vacation! Also offering art classes and paint & sip experiences, if you aren’t here on the first Friday of April, it’s ok, these other activities will be equally exciting.

Port Aransas Spring Farmers Market, April 6, Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion

Port Aransas has always done things a little differently than other places. Our beach vacations are affordable, we don’t believe in gouging tourists, we offer beaches you can drive on, and our Farmers Market, instead of being held every week, occurs just twice a year, and when it is time for the next one, like the Spring Farmers Market coming on April 6, it will be a mega market!

Offering meats, vegetables, and fruits that are actually in season not something that was forced to grow in a greenhouse, adding an extra layer of healthy benefits for consumers, the baked goods will be baked from scratch, probably within a day or two of appearing on the vendor tables. Coffee is small batch, seafood will be harvested locally, and gifts will be handmade, artwork will be painted by local artists, and the music that accompanies the whole shebang, performed by Tyler Jordan, will enhance the experience, perhaps encouraging you to sing along as you shop.

Tea with Me at Tortugas, April 12, Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill

Tea /w me During April Events in Port Aransas

Although we are thousands of miles away from England in both miles and vibe, the Tea with Me event held at Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill is an extremely popular one.

The dress code is Sunday best and if you have been wondering what to do with all those leftover Princess costumes from Halloween or Disneyland, wonder no more; your little princess deserves to look the part, and she is encouraged to wear it to tea! Offering sweet treats, traditional tea sandwiches, and a variety of teas, this event may not be typical Texas, but we promise your kids will love this almost as much as they love their time at the beach!

Texas Sandfest, April 25 Through April 27, Port Aransas Beach

Did we save the best for last or are we just going in chronological order? That will be for you to decide when your vacation coincides with the largest beach sand sculpture contest in the nation, Texas Sandfest.

The best sand sculptors in the world flock to our sandy beaches, creating sand sculptures right before your eyes and as you meander through the festival, examining each creation while the sun shines down on your shoulders and the sea waters crash against the shores, we think you will decide there is no place else you would rather be! Also offering lessons in the art of sand sculpting, demonstrations in creating the sculptures, an amateur contest, live music and food vendors, your day at the beach will take on new elements of wonder.

The kids’ activity tent will ensure that your 3-12 year olds are kept busy and entertained, and the golf cart raffle could mean that you have to figure out how to pack a golf cart in your carry-on, should you win the raffle.

It’s Time for the Beach

The Gulf can get too cold in the winter months to allow for year round swimming, but as the air temperatures rise, so do the water temperatures and the hardier souls begin to make their way back in the water.

Grab your gear, head to the white sands, and plan on spending at least one day of your spring journey, swimming, tanning, or simply walking along shore’s edge, feeling sea breezes tangle your hair as the water curls around your bare feet and ankles with every step. Even if you don’t swim, your day at the beach will still be good for your soul.

Pool Time

Not everyone likes to swim in the sea, even if they are the perfect temperature, and whether its still a little cool or you just don’t swim where other creatures live, the heated swimming pool of our Dunes community will offer you the fun you seek, the tanning opportunities you crave, and another way to relax outside on a beautiful spring day.

Angler’s Delight

The joy of sitting seaside with pole in hand and cooler at your side is one that can’t be overrated and in the spring, the fish are biting in all the best of ways. Spring is the season for redfish, speckled trout, kingfish, and cobia with April being the peak fishing month.

Drop a line from the Horace Caldwell Pier for a nominal fee, fish for free off the jetties, or hire a charter and head out to the deep waters where the trophy fish may end up hanging off the business end of your line. Fishing licenses are required and can be purchased at fishing stores or online here.

A Good Walk Spoiled

Sunset - Outdoor Activities in Port Aransas

Yes, golf is a sport that can be participated in year round, but in the spring months, even a bad day on the course will be an experience that you will never forget.

Palmilla Beach Golf, a traditional Scottish links course located at 258 Snapdragon, is a 9-hole course originally designed by the esteemed Arnold Palmer offers sea views, a driving range, practice greens, and an extra 3-hole loop that allows guests to play 9, 12, 18 or even 21 holes on a day that is going extra well.

It’s for the Birds

Port Aransas offers six spots along the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, including Joan & Scott Holt Paradise Pond and the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center and spring is the apex of birding season.

Grab your binoculars, your favorite birding apps, and head to either of the two places listed above or simply sit outside on the balcony of your vacation escape and spend some time documenting the sea birds you see flying around. Mustang Island State Park is another popular birding site destined to bring wildlife watchers great joy and success.

What’s SUP?

Stand up paddleboarding has been around for thousands of years, originally used as a way of sneaking up on enemies during war times, but today it is a sport that is known for offering peace, serenity, and incredible core strength to all who partake in the sport. When the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and you are paddling around the waters on a SUP board rented from Island Surf Shop and Kayaks, 130 E Avenue G, you will be living your best life.
